Very appealing artwork and sound design!
I have a problem with the space bar in that it keeps scrolling down-screen... of course that may just be a Firefox issue.

PopStrikers responds:

It seems like you gotta click on the window first to stop spacebar from scrolling. Probably a way to prevent that with some custome HTML but hell if I know how to do it hahaha. I'll look into it though.

Great job!
Lots of potential here.
The initial feeling was one of sweet, sweet nostalgia (I enjoyed mega-manning my way around the intro level very much). Then comes the sudden meaty boss fight. -Took me a couple of goes. Wasn't sure if I was doing it right when the monsters appeared to spawn randomly. Also the hit indication on the enemies seems to be different between the Shuriken and blade. Shuriken turned out to be the most effective way to tackle the big dudes on the ground, but I wasn't sure that was a winning strategy until it was over. (Maybe I just suck :D)
Also getting surrounded by baddies was the worst, but I got the hang of it eventually. Is there away to have Azumi stomp on smaller enemies when landing right on them? SQUISH! That's be awesome.
I love the art direction and music! Though I hope to see more animation. It's a got a lot of potential for some cool death animations ala Metal Slug. Also Azumi has only one arm? Will she ever get a wicked Big Boss style prosthetic? That'd be cool!
I'd better stop. This looks sweet, guys!

Nah...

This needs a Wii or Xbox controller...
And I should have had to pay $15 bucks to play.

:D

Well done!

Try Joy2Key and a gamepad!

Oh yes. I did like.

Well done!

You know it's great when...

When you play a game... put it down... then come back to it a few hours later.
This is honestly as good or better than most consol games out there.
Might I suggest an option to control the direction the player is facing by using the mouse pointer? I know it'd be a pooch to code, but it might also pay off big.
-Superb, rock on!

I...I...

I... I can't stop playing this game!
This is as addictive as any of the best flash games one could hope to play.

So. Much. Fun.

I think the word I mean is 'sublime'.
Oh please, oh please make more of this.
I can only suggest that you use a few more animations... perhaps some voice acting... maybe throw in an extra minigame or two, even add some diplomacy options... but on the whole, keep it similar to this little gem...
Good work!

finefin responds:

do you mean 'sublime' or 'subliminal'?... anyway, thanks for your nice review. i hope i can spare some time to add more content soon...

All my five.

-R belong to this...
Great job guys! Phenominal effort! I luved the scrolling background. It somehow reminds me of Sonic... o_O!
Are you planning on a career in games?
How long did this take you?
I'm really hoping to see some original stuff fom you in the future!
More, MORE!!!

Hey! Where did you find that music? eh? eh?

Very good!
Never before have I gone from feeling defeated to triumphant so quickly! It's tough but don't dispare folks, once you push through that 'invisible barrier' (around lvl 16) and wrap your head around it, this set of puzzles quickly becomes the most addictive mind tickler around...
Great work!

Hey! Getting there.

With a little more actionscript this could go VERY far! Imagine more levels involving extra obstacles or more control! Or howsabout a keyboard interface so two or more people can play?
Don't stop!

This is what stole my thunder?

LOL
I just HAD to see it for myself...
VERY addictive, man, your actionscript is faultless.
MORE than worthy of first place!
My hat is off to you.

Peace by wretched piece.
