ROTFLMAO

I'm a little busy right now (you might know why) but that didn't stop me from watching this masterstroke musical madness...
Absolutely high ...larious!
...
Oh and Thanks again for your answering my niggling question! It turned out better than I expected to say the least!
FRONT PAGE! WHOOO!!!

TmsT responds:

Yay! Hooray for Flash artists! Power to the people! Max respekt! etc

Okay, I'm giving you a 5!!!

...In the hopes that you'll enlighten me.
Gr8 Idea by the way, I'll soak up whatever flash knowledge I can, but you've lost me here...
When creating a movie that progressively plays more of its self the more the movie is loaded,
you say I have to create a movie clip symbol that lasts for exactly 100 frames... Right... can do.
Next you say, on the 'action' frame (which you've outlined as the second frame in the timeline that ..uh.. has actions on it) I have to Type 'loaderclip.gotoAndStop(percent);' in the action panel -?

Spluh???

Tell me, is 'loaderclip' the NAME of the 100 frames movie clip symbol?
And won't doing this simply drag my movie through each of the 100 frames as the movie loads? -very slow on dial up.
Where do I put this movieclip on the timeline?
In the 'display' layer (as you've got it there)?
If I want an animation to run continuously while loading, yet only change at certain points through the loading process, do I create seperate movie clips to put into the 100 frames movieclip?
UGh!!!
Anyhoo, thanxamillion and keep tryin' to teach us!

Sabu responds:

The 'loader' movie you make has to be small, so it can load faster than everything else. Otherwise there's really no point. It doesn't have to be 100 frames, but for the purpose of simplicity it's just easier that way. You could make 50 frames and stop it as percent/2.

You can assume loaderclip to be the loader movie, which you place in the 'display' layer (where the percDisplay box is in the first tutorial)

You could probably make yourself an actionscripted movieclip to run only part of itself in a loop, then set the 'action' frame to move it into the next part of the animation once a set percentage is loaded, but that's beyond the scope of this tutorial.

Snappy, catchy and DARN sweet tweens!

...did you write the muzak yourself?

Nick-the-Dead responds:

Nope! All background music was from Flashkit.com & all of the sound effects were from freesounds.com

WOW!

...never been so Stunned by an ending... guhhhhhhhhhh
I LOVE it!

AngryMouse14 responds:

Lol thanks, i still start a bit when i turn the volume up loud and play it through.

Listen up holmes...

I can only say AWESOME three hundred times a minute (timed myself) so just so's you know, I think your toons are worth at least four hours...
Anyhoo The point is, PREPARE your most fly self for the barrage of questions... well just ONE question over and over...:
HOW do you get such AWESOME sound?
It's not just the music to which I refer (Frosty Vs R was the cream), but ALL of it!? I mean, how do you compress it?
Is there some secret to maintaining a low file size with such good sound?
Do you find that the size of your finished SWF is drasticallymuch larger than it could be?
Oh mighty Flash legend, Please enlighten the new noob on the block.

TmsT responds:

I usually set my sound to 32 whatevers.
The low file size is mostly due to drawing my own images and importing only a few bitmaps (sometimes).
I think that it's the images, not the sound, that make the large SWF file. I mean, my earlier movies were larger than they are now, yet I'm making longer movies now than I was a year ago. How can this be?
A piece of music can only be compressed in one way for Flash, but using images more efficiently than just copying bitmap after bitmap is a trick you should try to learn. I've been making my image-use more efficient since I began, but I can't really do much to make the music used more efficiently.
Draw your images in Flash and re-use as much as you can without copy-past-ing too many non-object drawings.

General concorrences all round.

I agree. The animation was a tad choppy. Lemme ask you, how many frames were there between each picture change? I ask because once you've mastered 'shape tweening' things will REALLY take off for you. Shape tweening is the process of taking one ungrouped drawing and morphing it into another. To maintain the general dimensions of the picture as it changes you can even include 'shape hints' (Modify>Transform>add shape hint) Which help keep things nice and funky. Basically click anywhere in the timeline between two keyframes and select Tweening>shape in the frame panel.
Have a tinker... It'll serve you well.

Erol-Sabadosh responds:

Cool, I didn't know any of that stuff! I've sort of taught myself to use Flash over the years just by experimenting. Thanks for the tip, I think I'll give it a go.

Did you know Andrew is just Like Tails?

Andrew reminds me of Miles (Tails) Prower from Sonic the Hedgehog... Freaky.
Oh, and your Flash is the Shiznit, by the way...

TheSaladCaper responds:

Huh, you know, a few people have actually said that to me (andrew) in real life.

Thanks!

This stuff gives us all hope!

I mean it.
I know serious. intelligent, actuall honest-to-goodness people who REALLY DO seem to like reality TV!!
It's hard to swallow, but yes folks, it's true.
Your tooning ROCKS by the way... OH and what program did you use to record your sound? It was KICK-BOTTY!
Amen, brother, amen.

Tommark responds:

Thanks!

I use Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio to record my sound and a mic I got with IBM Via Voice.

hehehehehe... SUCKED IN!

You got moxy kiddo.
try something with a story... Checkout "Retarded Animal Babies" here at Newgrounds for an idea of how cool your Flash could be.
hehehehe Luv that name...

Duckshirt responds:

WFt?wF? moxy??

noooooooooo, that word sucks cowboy ;)

Simply OOZES style!

With a few more facial expressions, this one could be an awesome series! Include a story! Give us some controversy! Keep it up!

Confuzzled responds:

Well i am putting some thought into createing a series of these, useing more characters and like you said a plot, who knows maby I have gotten a few people saying its art, so maby I can beat Salad Fingers off the top spot in the art dipartment!

Peace by wretched piece.
